Governance Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and results driven individual to fill the above key role within the Trust.
The candidate will be responsible for the promotion and delivery of the governance/assurance agenda within Directorates. Your main activities will centre on co-ordinating, facilitating and managing numerous Governance work-streams for a range of specialties. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required in order to present reports, both written and verbal to a wide range of professionals across the organisation. You must be able to identify problems/ concerns and suggest solutions/ changes in practice in collaboration with appropriate multi-disciplinary teams to support continuous quality improvements.

To support and facilitate the delivery of the Directorates responsibilities in relation to the Governance and Assurance agenda including incident management, risk management, Duty of Candour, NICE guidance compliance and clinical audit. Ensuring Directorates are aware of their responsibilities and identification of key areas of concern or opportunities for shared learning. Providing expert advise and support on key work-steams.
To work under direction, within the Assurance Team, to implement continuous quality improvement activities identified by the Assurance Department, Divisions and Directorates as part of the Trust Assurance work programmes.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl
To assist, facilitate, support and provide guidance to directorates in all areas of governance/assurance.
To assist in delivering a work programme which enables directorates to undertake quality improvement activities, which include:
- Incident reporting and management
- Duty of Candour
- Risk management
- Compliance standards (including, Health & Safety, Information Governance, external accreditation standards)
Monitor the implementation of NICE guidance and External agency visits.
To support the Directorates in the development and implementation of a rolling annual programme of prioritised audit which is linked to both local and national requirements.
In conjunction with the Compliance Team to assist Directorates with the identification and collation of evidence for the following:

- Care Quality Commission (CQC)
- Information Governance (IG), including Data Protection Act
- Health & Safety
To assist directorates with aspects of data management relating to governance activities and accreditation systems. This may include data collation, database development and management, data manipulation, data presentation, report generation from existing systems.
To plan and deliver specialist training and maintain appropriate materials and literature for training purposes.
To facilitate the learning of lessons across the Trust.

- Degree or equivalent experience

- NVQ4 in relevant subject plus NHS experience OR Professional qualification
Experience/Skills

- Understanding of risk management processes and procedures
- Identifies problems and suggests solutions or improvements
- Good understanding of the principles of Clinical &/or Corporate Governance
- Good understanding of quality improvement techniques- e.g. clinical audit, risk management, complaints

- Implementing Clinical Audit, Incident and Risk management systems
