Hello, I'm Prit the Chief Pharmacy Tech in Operations at SWBH Pharmacy.
Here at SWBH we have a very rare and exciting role available as a Band 4 Specialist Pharmacy Assistant to work in our Pharmacy Stores and Distribution areas.

This is the perfect time to join SWBH as we are getting ready to move into our brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH). You will also be overseeing our brand new pharmacy distribution hub which is currently being built at Sheldon Block Pharmacy based on the City hospital site.
We have an extensive training package which will be provided to ensure you have the right support you need to excel in this very rare and exciting role.
You will require an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) in order to apply for this role.

Main duties of the job
You will be working under the direct supervision of the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Procurement, Stores and Distribution and supported by the Chief Pharmacy Technician in Operations. You will work between Midland Metropolitan University Hospital Pharmacy and our brand new Sheldon Block Pharmacy, Stores & Distribution Hub due to open early 2025.
Main duties of the job will include:
- To contribute to the development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive Trust-wide Pharmacy Distribution service.
- To contribute to the management of the pharmacy automated storage and retrieval system by developing and maintaining robust working practices that allows pharmacy to deliver and efficient service.
- To participate in the stock replenishment service, issue and distribution of pharmaceuticals provided to all wards, theatres and departments.
- Oversee the day to day management of stores and distribution areas and Pharmacy Assistants.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within Pharmacy Stores and Distribution areas
- Experience of supervising staff
- Experience of liaising with members of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals
- Experience of working with Pharmacy automation
- Experience of training staff
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent as a minimum
- Manual handling

Essential criteria
- Able to manage and organise own workload
- Able to plan staffing rotas taking into account planned and unplanned absences
- Able to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage own time effectively
- I.T skills which enable accurate data to be analysed and clearly presented
- Written skills including being able to write departmental SOPs
- Able to concentrate and work throughout frequent interruptions
- Physical skills: able to stand for long periods with frequent bending and lifting
