Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position within the Endoscopy Department at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. The individual will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Endoscopy Department. As the receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the Endoscopy Unit, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience for patients.
The post holder must have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise their own workload and have a professional attitude.
They must be capable of liaising professionally with patients, and with colleagues at all levels, including senior consultants and nurses from across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Providing reception cover for the Endoscopy service including:
Greeting patients on arrival onto the Endoscopy patient system.
Liaising with clinical staff/booking clerks in relation to appointments,
Inputting clinical and administrative patient details onto the system.
Liaising with the ambulance desk to arrange transport for patients.
Dealing with telephone enquiries from patients, carers, clinicians and other healthcare workers relating to both appointments, filing patient records.
Clinic preparation for endoscopy clinics: pull out patient information for each clinic.
Liaising with nursing staff with regard to arrival for clinics and managing potential delays.

If you do not hold a level 3 business administrator qualification, you may be able to complete the level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship programme as part of ongoing training and development during your employment

Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working within a reception preferably within a caring environment
- Experience in dealing with a broad range of people preferably in a caring environment
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS and Endoscopy experience
- Experience hospital data base e.g. IPM lorenzo
- Broad base of IT packages eg. Word, outlook etc.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE grade A – C or equivalent in English language
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
