Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

Main duties of the job
As band 6 you are responsible for the coordination of flow and providing high quality care to high acuity patients. you will identify patients requiring review by MDT and those who need transferring. you will liaise closely with A&E, and the Operational Centre and escalate any concerns. As a band 6, you will ensure communication with the clinical lead and the junior doctors are frequent to promote patient flow; also you will be expected to front board round with consultants twice a day.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will need to be passionate about providing quality care for every one with varying age and conditions promoting independence; we want staff to make a difference, and become a valued member of our long established team.
This role will require a person willing to oversee patient flow, and care for the high acuity patients in AMU's enhanced care bays. There will be opportunities within the role to complete learning to ensure that all our patients receive timely and appropriate care specific to their needs. This role also widens your outlook within the organisation to enhance your learning development and embody the trust values within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- ENB 998/D32/D33 or equivalent or evidence of experience
- Mentors/Assessors/teaching qualification
- Masters Degree in Nursing/health related subject or clear evidence of working towards
- Advanced clinical assessment skills training are desirable
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven track record of managing a ward area
- Has managed control of infection as part of their clinical experience
- Teaching experience and the ability to present effectively
- Performance management skills
- Able to conduct audit and implement change to improve patient experience of service
- Able to manage resources
- Able to network and establish effective working relationships to impact on collaborative working practice
- Research appreciation and ability to influence others through research findings
- Processon of a management qualification or evidence of having undertaken leadershiop skills training is desirable
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Computer literate, knowledge of databases and data collation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to compile reports and write strategy papers
- Evidence of innovation in clinical services and/or clinical service development
- Complex case management, able to identify and respond to priorities and emergencies

- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and achieve success through, with and in others
