Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

Health Records Supervisor
Sunday - Thursday 3 pm - 11 pm

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team that operates 24hrs a day, 365 days a year, retrieving and preparing patient records for clinic and inpatient activity. Duties include allocating work to team members, creating rotas, supporting staff and monitoring performance to ensure the service is delivered as required during your shift. Monitor sickness absence in line with policy, monitor annual leave and undertake appraisals.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a calm, organised way with the ability to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions. You must be confident, friendly and able to work in a very busy and demanding environment against extremely tight deadlines.
Previous knowledge and experience of working in a similar environment is desirable. It is essential that your application demonstrates your ability to meet the Job Description and Person Specification, and in particular your experience of allocating work and monitoring performance.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSEs/equivalent Grade C or above in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continued personal development.
- NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience of the Patient Administration System.
- Proven experience of clinic preparation, case note tracking, appointment booking procedures, retention and retrieval processes.
- Experience of supervising staff in a demanding service area.
- Knowledge of Government and local targets including Subject Access Requests.
- Excellent administration and organisation skills and the ability to prioritise and work to set timescales.
- Understanding of the Data Protection Act and Access to Health Records Act.
- Able to prepare/deliver clear and accurate information/instructions.
- Demonstrate effective customer care skills and evidence of working with the general public/reception skills.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrate an awareness of Confidentiality/Health and Safety and Security/Information Governance
Experience
