Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

The Trust would like to recruit a highly technical, motivated and enthusiastic Infrastructure Network Engineer to join our professional team delivering crucial NHS services to Walsall and CCG. This role is a hands on technical position involving a mix of BAU, change request and project activities to support the Trust's Infrastructure operations. The role also requires to participating in an on call rota to provide 24/7 support for important ICT related issues. This post reports to the Infrastructure Network Manager as part of a wider team delivering digital services for the Trust.

· Work collaboratively to manage the operation, installation, repair, documentation of network, server, storage, and telephony infrastructure
· Attempt to resolve and escalated incidents or requests and escalate as appropriate
· To provide day to day hands on pro-active and re-active maintenance and support under the guidance of the Network Manager
· To ensure the LAN/WAN infrastructure is secure and appropriate protection, security and management devices are employed as required
· Support of switches and routers to maintain connections
· Install, configure and administer Wireless (Wi-Fi) services as required
· Review logs, undertake remedial action if errors are found or escalate where applicable
· Ensuring all work undertaken is recorded in the information management system and at a level of detail as defined by the Network Manager.
· Documenting change requirements within an agreed format, ensuring only authorised changes are made to the environment, participating in change advisory board meetings as required.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

· Ensuring all work allocated is completed as per agreed timescales and deadlines set are achieved, the post holder will be responsible managing own time and escalating any deviation to the agreed timescale.
· Ensures that all problems/incidents from users for assistance are handled promptly and effectively whilst being responsible for planning, prioritising and managing own workload to ensure that the required result is achieved.
· For all requests that cannot be directly resolved, provides an effective interface between WHDS, users and service providers including 3rd party suppliers regarding support of hardware/software.
· Ensures that priority setting and escalation procedures are applied effectively and in accordance with standing operating procedures and that all complaints are responsibly and professionally resolved.
· Be pro-active in devising improvements and recommending changes to policies, procedures and working practices and/or creation of new policies and procedures which impact on beyond their own service area.
