Role: Domestic Assistant
Location: Reaside
Hours: 6 hours
Salary: £3891.49
The successful applicant will be expected to work in all areas, including corridors, entrances, toilets, clinic rooms, admin areas and must be able to work alone or as part of a team, to work flexible hours including bank holidays, and to move across sites.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality domestic service throughout the designated area/service, maintaining a clean and safe environment that assists in ensuring a positive service user experience and reflects the values of the organisation.
Responsible for providing high standards of cleanliness to a designated area/service under the supervision of the domestic supervisor, including the safe use of mechanical and electrical equipment following appropriate training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
General
- To be responsible for the effective cleaning and maintenance of all hygiene standards within a designated area/service and all of its facilities.
- To be responsible for utilising safely mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment following appropriate training as required to meet the above.
- To be responsible for the collection and safe removal of paper waste within your area/service of work.
- To provide pantry/kitchen duties including clearing of the dining area and washing up as required.
- To provide specialist cleaning (barrier/isolation) as required.
- Responsible for the safe storage and maintenance of appropriate stock and supplies and to ensure that these are available within the designated area/service.
- It is everyone’s responsibility to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training.
INDIVIDUAL
- Responsible for engaging in the SSL/Trust appraisal process, that identifies your own personal development and training needs.
- Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act trust policy and good practice.
- Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards colleagues and other agencies.
- To assist in the introduction of new staff under the guidance and advice of the Domestic Supervisor.
- Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant departmental/trust and statutory policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives.
- To undertake any adhoc duties as required by the Domestic Supervisor commensurate with the grade of the post i.e. changing of cubicle/window curtain blinds.
- Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the control of infection.
- It is the responsibility of each member of staff when reporting for duty and collecting their staff attack alarm to test the alarm on the ward area to ensure it is working correctly.

Desirable criteria
- General Education to GCSE level or Equivalent. BICSc Certificate NVQ 1 & 2 Support Services Level 2 Food Hygiene
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Has worked in a customer focused environment.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of cleaning duties and standards. Previous experience of using cleaning equipment. Previous experience of working in Mental Health/NHS. Awareness of COSHH regulations
Other
Essential criteria
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of people including patients and staff.
- Able to complete necessary paper work as instructed to Trust requirements and standards.
- Able to follow work schedules with minimal day to day supervision after Initial training. Able to carry out duties without direct supervision after initial training
- Able to complete stores requests and submit to supervisor.
- Able to use a variety of cleaning machines. Able to move light furniture as part of cleaning duties. Able to carry out manual handling tasks on a regular basis.
- Able to identify most pressing tasks within scope of normal work schedule. Able to identify and maintain highest levels of cleaning standards at all times. Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Able to reflect on own performance and identify training needs with Supervisor.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
