Support the project lead to design, develop, implement, evaluate and review programmes of education that enable peer support staff to acquire and maintain the necessary skills to safely care for mental health patients within the boundaries of peer support intervention.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • To work collaboratively with our contracted training partner, IMROC, in the ongoing development and delivery of training that remain consistent to best practice and alignment to service needs

·       Assist in education programmes support staff recruitment and retention.
·       Support the development of robust induction programmes for all new peer support staff.
·       Provide pastoral and tutorial support for services embedding a new peer support workforce, and to staff completing courses and programmes. 
·       Ensure any training and competency assessment is in line with Trust and programme policy, and ImROC  core standards.
·       Participate, promote and contribute to relevant Trust wide initiatives to improve standards of peer support intervention through education and training.
·       Act as an educational resource for the staff; ensuring staff are kept up to date with relevant development opportunities in line with their agreed development plans.
·       Ensure delivery of formal and informal teaching and training that ensures staff have the necessary skills, knowledge and competence to deliver safe and effective peer support care.
·       Maintain a flexible approach to education and learning in the clinical and community environment in order to be responsive to the changing needs of service delivery. 
·       Record and maintain an accurate record and evaluation of staff training and attendance at courses, conferences and training days.

Skills and experience

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Recognised teaching qualification/Post Graduate Certificate in Education (HE); working towards this. Or significant relevant experience
  • Level 3 in Peer Support Work Theory and Practise- or Willing to work towards /undertake training
  • Knowledge of current issues and priorities for peer support within recovery. Understanding of current best practise around peer support
  • Demonstratable experience as Peer Support worker You have lived experience of recovery
  • Experience of teaching learners and educational knowledge to be able to create effective teaching and learning environments
  • Experience of supporting, assessing and providing pastoral support to learners
  • Able to communicate effectively within a multi-professional team. Evidence of multi-professional team working.
  • Able to work under own initiative and under pressure
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Data collection and statistical analysis skills.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Be creative/innovate to develop learning material and deliver engaging teaching sessions

  • Ability to plan and deliver educational activities that respond to the changing requirements of peer support programmes
  • Previous experience of working as a peer support/recovery educator.
  • Experience of devising, implementing and reviewing action plans to aid learners’ development.
  • Formal teaching experience- for example delivery of statutory and mandatory courses/ teaching in education establishments.
