An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Ardenleigh Women's Secure Blended Service team. This is an exciting opportunity as the successful applicant will join an already established Occupational Therapy Service, which aims to provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation to our service users with complex needs.
This job offers the opportunity to:
- Enhance skills in various specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions. This will be goal orientated, focussed on developing positive routines, addressing difficulties with motivation, and looking to support individuals in developing self-management skills and strategies to maximise independence.
- Opportunity to work flexibly.
- Have support for staff wellbeing and to encourage home/work life balance.
- Meet specialist training needs such as becoming a Sensory Integration Practitioner, DBT Specialist, Psychological First Aider and more.
- Develop an ever-evolving service and take part in service development, research and QI projects.
- Increase management skills.
Main duties of the job
- Working alongside a specialist MDT with unique roles such as Drama therapy, Art therapy, Music Therapy and ANP roles which focus on staff wellbeing.
- Completing specialist assessments in MOHO, MOCA, Sensory.
- Attending weekly reviews – MDT.
- Running groups and planned interventions.
- Writing reports and assessments.
- Support in operational management of the delivery of an evidenced based Occupational Therapy treatment service.
- Provide leadership within a recovery focused model of care and trauma informed care model.
- Provide support/coaching to the junior members of the OT team and wider MDT.
- Demonstrating values of compassion, commitment, and inclusivity.
- To empower and enable individuals to access community resources which support their social, employment, educational and recreational needs and goals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To use a recovery approach and evidenced based practices to deliver a team based Occupational Therapy treatment service.
- To maintain good clinical records and appropriate data that supports outcome measurement.
- To provide leadership and operational management within the OT team.
- In line with the secure care model support the development of high quality care in collaboration with the wider multi professional teams.
- Participate in clinical & environmental risk assessment. Employ and ensure procedural, relational and physical risk management policies are maintained.
- Facilitate staff and student development and well-being.
- Be an ambassador for the profession and service. Professionally represent the team at service wide/trust wide meetings.
- In accordance with the HCPC maintain regular CPD and demonstrate its outcomes for services and service users.
- Participate in annual development reviews and reflective practice opportunities.
Person specification
Training and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma or BSC(Hons) In Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of registration with the HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post graduate training in leadership and or management
- Extra Training: Trauma Informed care, Sensory, DBT
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of managing caseloads with people with complex mental health problems
- Leadership of/management of junior staff
- Engagement in service development
- Positive attitude towards supervision
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
