Chamomile Suite is a 10 bedded psychiatric inpatient unit that cares for mothers who are affected by mental illness during the Perinatal Period.

We offer a conjoined admission with mom and baby so that they can continue with building their relationship and bond whilst psychiatric treatment is delivered to support with moms recovery.

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Nursery Nurse Team Leader to lead the provision of quality, evidence based Nursery Nurse advice, support and care under the guidance of the Ward Manager for service users and their infants within a multi-disciplinary team.

As the Nursery Nurse Team Leader you will be expected to deliver high quality specialised interventions to enhance the mother-infant bond or be prepared to undertake training to become competent. 

Experience in managing a team including monitoring performance, encouraging and facilitating personal development and supporting the wellbeing of our Nursery Nurse Team.

The Nursery Nurse Team Leader will have a comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding  and will be able to guide the nursery nurse team in assessing the additional support needs of our mom's and babies.

Our inpatient service is a 24 hours 7 days a week and we require a nursery nurse team leader that is innovative and manifests our Trust values of being compassionate, inclusive and committed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for leading the Nursery Nurse team in supporting our patients and their babies whilst they are on the Chamomile Suite.

The Nursery Nurse Team Leader will manage the our creche facility, being able to demonstrate innovation and develop a stimulating and exciting activity plan.

The post holder will have line manager responsibility for the Nursery Nurse Team and monitor their progress through Annual Development Appraisal and Regular Management Supervision.

The post holder will have a excellent communication  and be able to adapt their leadership style when needed.

The post holder will have a high standard of practice and personal integrity, and will be able to role model this to the wider Team.

To ensure that the Nursery Nurse Team are up to date with their fundamental training , as well as arranging specialist training that enhances the mother and infant bond.

 

 

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • NNEB/CACHE or Equivalent
  • Experience of working with mother with mental illness
  • Experience in working in a supervisory role within a creche or Nursery Setting
Desirable criteria
  • Insight into Mental health difficulties in the Perinatal Period
  • Able to set up and run groups
  • Has completed or is willing to complete additional training in the delivering specialist interventions that enhance the mother and infant bond
