An exciting opportunity for Rotational Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officers have become available within the Pharmacy Department at Russells Hall Hospital. The duties will include stock control, dispensing, specialist cleaning, order completion, unpacking goods received and record keeping. The job also involves moving and handling of drug deliveries and bulk fluids.
Training is available to provide the post holder with skills to visit wards, dispense and issue medicine stocks. Individuals with recent dispensing/relevant experience would be welcome.
This is a rotational post which will involve working in different areas of the Pharmacy - distribution, dispensary and aseptic unit.

Main duties of the job
To assist with the smooth running of the daily activities of their area of work and also to provide assistance to other pharmacy staff working within their work area.
The pharmacy provides a service 7 days a week.
To undertake planned work under the supervision of relevant Senior Technicians.
Work will be supported by the provision of clear standard operating procedures and under the guidance of Senior Pharmacy Technician.
To assist in specialist cleaning duties within the pharmacy.
A structured, competency-based scheme will support the post holder in training to the standard of NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Service Skills.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- GCSE (or Equivalent) in Maths and English grade C or above
Knowledge and Training
Essential criteria
- Committed to own training
Desirable criteria
- Have or working towards NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or Unit accreditation within specialised area, and/or equivalent experience, e.g. validated training as pharmacy support worker.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of stock management and stock control systems.
Desirable criteria
- Recent previous experience working in a pharmacy/pharmacy stores.
Communication & Relationship Skills

- Ability to mix with existing staff.
- Good written/oral communication skills.

- IT literate, use of databases, Microsoft etc.
- Be capable of all tasks in job description including manual handling of pharmaceuticals.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
