Patient Safety Partner

Volunteer

Trosolwg o'r swydd

Being a patient safety partner at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From sitting on relevant safety and governance committees; reviewing and commenting on meeting papers and reports; being part of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) implementation group; to helping develop patient safety information resources; we as PSPs are actively involved in contributing to the design of safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation.

All the members of the patient safety team ensure that we are fully supported in our roles; appreciate our input and value our suggestions. I wholeheartedly endorse this role to all the members of the public who wish to bring patients’ voice and are passionate about making changes to improve safety and quality of care at The Dudley Group. Together, we can be the change we wish to see!”

Kazi Husna Abdul Naeem (DGFT patient safety partner)

The role will work alongside the Trust’s clinical and non-clinical staff, to help inform and influence decisions on services.  They will become members of committees, work with project teams, consult on policy and support learning to contribute a different and independent perspective, enriching and ensuring the best patient experience is achieved.  They are involved in a wide range of activities and programmes of work and may take on several different types of roles while in that work – they will contribute to improving governance and leadership within the Trust.

For some PSPs their role will include safety governance which will require them to be members of relevant safety committees.  They will enhance the committee membership by providing appropriate challenge to ensure learning and change, whilst safeguarding consideration and prioritisation of the patient, carer and family perspective and championing a diversity of views at the committee.
