Neonatal Community Outreach Sister/Charge Nurse - Band 6
Permanent 37.5 hours pw
We are looking for a registered nurse to work within the Neonatal Community Outreach Team (NCOT) across the Local Maternity New-born System (LMNS). A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties include:
1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for babies and their families, ensuring effective liaison with other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
2. To ensure standards of record keeping meet the requirements of the NMC.
3. To work as a senior member of the Neonatal Team, providing support and leadership to all staff as appropriate.
4. To be responsible for the delivery of high quality care which is effective and responsive to the individual needs of the baby and family.
5. To promote and maintain effective communication both within and outside the Trust to ensure care is co-ordinated between the agencies involved.
6. To ensure that all practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, taking action when the required standard is not met.
7. To act as a role model upholding Trust policies and Network guidelines to ensure safe, evidence based practice.
8. Participate in establishing Network standards of care by which overall performance can be measured and evaluated.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- RN/SCN/RNC/RM
- Teaching and Assessing course or equivalent
- Completion of Neonatal Intensive Care course (QIS)
- NMC Registered
Skills & Experience
Essential criteria
- Current Neonatal experience
- Effective leadership, analytical skills and clinical decision making
- Effective people management skills
- Adheres to Code of Conduct and professional standards
Desirable criteria
- Current or previous community experience
- Neonatal screening
- Participation in change management and audit

- Able to travel efficiently to meet the needs of the service.
- Able to attend Network meetings as appropriate
- Up to date with EBP and professional issues
