Job overview

Band 2 Cardiographer Trainee / Band 3 Senior Cardiographer

We are looking for a confident person who wants to study to be a Senior Cardiographer and work in the Cardiology department at Russells Hall Hospital. 

To communicate, as appropriate, with patients, staff and other concerned parties, to ensure best quality service delivery in terms of patient satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness. Applicants must be empathetic with patients, have good verbal communication skills and be qualified to GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths or Science. 

Consideration will be given to applicants with a background in clinical healthcare wishing to re train in this area, in which case the post would be at Band 2 level for the training period only. Candidates must study for and pass the SCST Certificate of Competency during the 1st year in post.  

Once trained and successful in the SCST certificate of competency, and the applicant is competent in performing routine electrocardiograms (ECGs) and fitting ambulatory ECG and BP recorders, then this role will be upgraded to a Band 3 Senior Cardiographer level. 

Main duties of the job

The post is based in the cardiology dept where the successful candidate will be trained to be competent working throughout the Trust in accordance with Local and National protocols to perform routine and urgent electrocardiograms (ECG) and fitting ambulatory ECG and Blood Pressure (BP) recorders. They will also be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature including assisting senior staff, setting up patients for complex investigations, care of department equipment, maintaining records of work undertaken and occasionally assisting with general clinic/office duties.
