1x permanent position-37.5 hours.

We are looking to appoint a Band 6 District Nurse into our friendly and supportive team. You must have effective communication and negotiation skills. As an advocate for our patients you need to have the ability to inspire people at all levels. This post would require that you had an understanding of the expanding role of community nursing and would have the commitment to take it forward. You will need a sound understanding of the current primary care agenda, with excellent communication skills and effective leadership and decision making skills. You will need to be innovative and able to work autonomously whilst promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for team members and students. This would be an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in supporting the team leader

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for the ongoing assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will carry out all relevant forms of care and will take responsibility for caseload holders in their absence. The management of the work area, clinical caseload, Including supervision and development of staff.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • First level Registered Nurse
  • Nurse Prescriber
  • Degree in District Nursing or equivalent (Specialist practitioner qualification in District Nursing)
  • Evidence of continual professional development
  • Must hold a Specialist Community Practitioner – District Nursing qualification and/or be registered as a

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience to include: Evidence of mentoring Project working Specialist training Management and development of others
  • Good background knowledge of issues within the primary care area
  • Willing to undertake Band 6 competencies
  • Have knowledge of major NHS issues
  • Demonstrate knowledge of research-based practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience
  • Experience of working in primary care and leading a community nursing team
  • Experience of direct supervision of qualified and unqualified staff
  • Experience of identifying the development needs of others and giving effective feedback.
  • Experience of interagency and collaborative working
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students

Communication and Relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Must be able to commute to meet the demands of the role
  • Ability to develop working relationships with other professionals
  • Able to demonstrate empathy with clients, carers, families and colleagues – ensuring that communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist.
