Administration Support Officer
Band 4
Job overview
A development opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a strong administrative background in the NHS and ideally within cancer services. The Administrative Support Officer post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective support service to the West Midlands Cancer Alliance hosted by The Royal Wolverhampton Trust.
The key purpose of the role is to provide day to day administration support. In particular the post holder will provide and coordinate administrative and secretarial services: including for example, scheduling and booking the groups meetings and education events, preparing agendas, maintaining contact lists and distributing information in a timely manner, managing enquiries by phone and email, collating papers and information, sourcing data from National IT web-based systems.
Main duties of the job
Managing the electronic diary for the alliance, including arranging, and changing appointments, prioritising these as appropriate. Working with all team members in the collection of information for performance reporting on relevant team projects. Sorting and prioritising all incoming e-mail, managing the generic inbox and sign posting as appropriate. Acting as a point of contact for teams, dealing and responding effectively with complex queries from stakeholders and passing on relevant information to appropriate team members sensitively and autonomously.
Working for our organisation
There are approximately 2 million people in the UK are living with or affected by cancer, and there are over 360,000 new diagnoses every year. Do you want to be part of a team to ensure more people survive cancer than ever before? Are you passionate about improving the lives of people with cancer? Working as part of the national NHS Cancer Programme, that’s exactly what you will do.
The West Midlands Cancer Alliance (WMCA) is one of twenty-one Cancer Alliances across England, one of the largest Alliances in the country. WMCA covers a large geographical area of 6 counties: Birmingham and Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, The Black Country and Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. The West Midlands Cancer Alliance team is hosted at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust working across the wider West Midlands footprint. This role requires regular travel across the Midlands and the team meet face to face in Central Birmingham once a fortnight.
Cancer Alliances were set-up to deliver the collective ambitions identified by the National Cancer Taskforce, with the aim of increasing survival rates across the area and the experience of those living with and beyond cancer, ensuring that we address inequalities and improve patient experience wherever possible. We do this by bringing together all the organisations which commission, provide, and contribute to cancer services across our area to enable quality improvement.
