Oncology Clinical Service Support Manager

The Royal Orthopaedic NHS Trust is looking for an experienced and skilled Clinical Service Support Manager to join our Oncology & Complex Arthroplasty Service in improving outcomes and care for our patients.

This Clinical Service Suport Manager role is an exciting position for an individual who brings excellent engagement skills and service improvement skills as well as a sound understanding of the NHS and cancer.  

The post holder will provide support to the clinical service manager and the Associate Director of Operations in providing high level leadership and organisation to ensure that all operational processes within the Oncology and Complex Arthroplasty services are developed and implemented to support the Trust.

Lead and manage the individual service in partnership with the Clinical Service Manager whilst sustaining effective working relationships with the divisional team, consultant medical staff, and senior nursing team ensuring that the operational requirements of the directorate are effectively managed and co-ordinated.

To develop patient focused services, identifying future financial, capital and workforce requirements and ensuring that contractual and performance targets are met.

To work with clinical colleagues to establish and monitor protocols of care provision in order to deliver efficient and effective care pathways which improve patient outcomes.

Actively contribute to the service a working co-operatively with clinicians within the service.

The Oncology Service Support Manager will lead on cancer waiting time data submission and management, as well as ensuring that there are plans in place for continuous improvement in the quality of data captured and in performance through effective monitoring and theme analysis, highlighting any issues to the Clinical Service Manager, Nurse Consultant or Clinical Lead.

Experience

  • Previous NHS experience of managing Cancer / Oncology pathway with ability to understand cancer pathways and processes and how best to improve these
  • Proven track record of delivering against set objectives and achieving key targets, demonstrating continuous and quality improvements

  • Able to act as catalyst for change, encouraging innovation and creativity in service redesign
  • Experience of Cancer IT systems ie., Somerset, National database

Knowledge

  • Able to effectively work with members of different professions and across organisational boundaries
  • Excellent understanding of current cancer waiting times targets, guidance and associated rules.
  • Excellent working knowledge of NHS performance requirements including the national cancer performance targets and Care Quality Commission.
