We are committed to equality and diversity within our workforce.
Job overview
We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Sonographer to join SWB NHS Trust at a very exciting time, as we have recently moved into our state-of-the-art, brand new, £100m Hospital. Joining a team with the privilege to work with all the very latest equipment in a purpose-built environment designed to our own specifications.
SWB is a friendly, integrated healthcare provider focused on improving the life chances and health outcomes of our diverse population. Harnessing ambition, investment, commitment and the contribution of our people, our vision is to be the UK’s best integrated care provider. We’re already on our way to achieving this. We’ve trebled our training budget, enhanced the way we recognise our people and are constructing career pathway frameworks. Our people have names, they have voices, they have a family here. As we create greater levels of service integration, we know where we’re going and we know we won’t get there alone. That’s why we want you to join us.
Great care can change everything. Like you, everyone here at SWB wants to be a part of truly brilliant, integrated care. And just like you, we’re ambitious about what we do. We’re always seeking ways to do more and be better for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be joining a motivated workforce that welcomes new challenges as we work together to provide the very best care and service for our patients. Qualified Sonographers/Midwife Sonographers with CASE approved qualifications are welcome to apply as we would like to expand and improve our service.
1. To regularly undertake and provide comprehensive, independently written reports on, a wide range of ultrasound examinations to a standard acceptable to the service. To draw conclusions from the ultrasound findings and recommend further investigations.
2. To communicate highly complex information regarding diagnosis / treatment directly with Clinicians and patients within a multidisciplinary team.
3. To give a clear explanation to patients regarding Ultrasound examinations including risks, benefits, accuracy and limitation, in order to gain informed consent within an ethical and moral framework.
4. To work within, and adhere to, Standards and Operational Policies relating to the provision of a quality Imaging service. To ensure that these Standards and Operational Policies are adhered to by more junior staff.
5. To assist in the development and production of protocols, procedures and training manuals.
6. To work within, and contribute to, evidence based protocols and guidelines. When inadequacies in protocols and guidelines are identified, investigate and inform the Lead Sonographer in a timely and appropriate manner.
