This is a newly established role which ensures that babies and their families who receive a ‘suspected condition’ result from the research study have a smooth handover to the NHS for confirmatory testing and, if required, to the relevant care and support pathway. The role is critical to ensure that babies are diagnosed and treated quickly by an appropriate treating clinician, which has a direct impact on these babies’ clinical outcomes and in some cases survival.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the GMSA, Local trusts, Genomics England, Lead Clinicians, R&D and the clinical staff within Maternity.

The successful candidate will  play a pivotal role in supporting the Generation Study by acting as the region’s single point of contact for a ’condition suspected’ result and Liaising with NHS newborn screening laboratories and contacting clinical teams urgently. Supporting and maintaining the mapping of NHS Specialist Care Centres within the region and NHS England-approved lists of treatment and confirmatory test pathways. Coordinating collaborative working with treating clinicians, Local Trusts, the GMSA and Genomics England to map and develop robust processes for capturing outcome data for KPI and other auditable data for the study.

You will work closely with the Generation study Project Manager and provide  cover in times of leave. Overseeing the day to day study activities such as screening, receiving informed consent, conducting study procedures and the collecting baseline and follow up data in accordance with ICH GCP.
