Are you a locum working weekends but want a more stable/static role? Do you want to work part time and have previously struggled to secure a role in hospital pharmacy? If yes, then we need you. 

We are seeking two highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join the pharmacy team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to work weekend shifts. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality and patient focused clinical pharmacy services to a range of specialities via the Birmingham Children's Hospital dispensary. This includes the Birmingham Women's and Parkview Hospitals. Successful applicants will also have the option of working additional hours during the weekday to further enhance their clinical skills and knowledge. Your contribution and dedication really will make a difference to our patients every day you come to work.

Prior to commencing independent working, successful applicants will be provided with an induction and training period.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To ensure medicines are prescribed safely, economically and are appropriate to the needs of the patient across various specialities via the dispensary.

Provide advice on pharmaceutical care to healthcare professionals and patients.

To record clinical interventions and medication incidents to highlight areas of concern. 

To provide medication advice to patients and their families to ensure they are aware of their medicines and potential side effects.

To highlight service improvement areas. You may be required to partake in audit data collection.  

To support antimicrobial stewardship.

Qualifications

  • MPharm or equivalent degree
  • Successful completion of foundation year and exam
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacist Independent Prescriber

Knowledge and Nature of Experience

  • Able to understand the complex clinical and social needs of patients and families and meet those needs whenever possible.
  • Able to understand complex clinical situations and to discuss and make recommendations to resolve issues arising from them with medical, nursing and other staff.

  • Previous hospital experience

Analytical and Judgement Skills

  • Able to work independently, prioritise, set goals and meet deadlines.
  • Able to identify issues and use own initiative to address them.

  • Aware of personal limitations and asks for help as required.

Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

  • Able to use a variety of computer software to organise and present information
  • Previous experience and knowledge of audit.
  • Awareness of requirements towards CQC.
  • Demonstrates continuing professional development.
  • An understanding of medication safety.

  • Previous experience of delivering clinical pharmacy services to neonatal and paediatric patients and staff.
  • Previous experience of delivering clinical pharmacy services to a Women’s directorate.
  • Familiarity with drugs expenditure and prescribing trends.
