Job overview

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Individual to join our friendly Radiology Imaging Department as a Radiology Support Worker.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside our team of dedicated Specialised Paediatric Radiographers supporting them in the examination and care of our Paediatric Patients.

They will be supported in CPD and scoping of career development.

Desirable criteria
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Healthcare qualifications NVQ 2/3

Desirable criteria
  • Recognise and prevent situations that may be detrimental to the health and well-being of an individual.

Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

  • Have good IT Skills
  • Good telephone skills
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a radiology department/using radiology booking systems

Personal Skills/Abilities and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Communication: Able to communicate with patients, colleagues and other departments in an efficient coherent and professional manner.
  • Evidence of working in a team.
  • Manages own work and time effectively.
  • Evidence of good time keeping and punctuality.
  • Able to accept instruction/direction.
  • Good Attendance Record
  • Able to move patients safely within hospital environment including use of moving aids, trolleys.`
  • Ability to concentrate on the tasks at hand and be able to cope with highly charged situations.
  • Recognise and effectively deal with traumatic and emotional situations.
