Job overview
We have an exciting new role for a midwife to join our Professional Practice Team as a Clinical Midwife Educator with a focus on Newly Qualified Midwives.
This role is primarily to support newly qualified midwives (NQMs) throughout their preceptorship period with skills acquisition and to facilitate competence and confidence building. Also to support new staff to the Trust and rotational staff who are new to areas; supporting safe and effective care.

Main duties of the job
Facilitating clinical skills sessions, providing mentorship/support for completion of competencies, and providing clinical support to staff on varied shift patterns as part of a 24/7 service as a bleep holder.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Midwife
- Evidence of Degree level study or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Teaching qualification and/or student assessor training
Knowledge and Nature of Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate expert midwifery knowledge and experience, with contemporary Labour Ward knowledge and skills
- Experience of teaching clinical skills and completing competency assessments
- Ability to motivate and support others
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of teaching in a variety of settings using a range of different education and learning strategies.
Analytical and Judgement Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to provide and receive complex or sensitive information and manage the consequential situations, and communicate (using a variety of methods) sensitively with staff whilst maintaining appropriate confidentiality
- Able to respectfully challenge and escalate clinical concerns via appropriate channels
- Skilled in having challenging conversations and providing feedback in an effective and considerate manner
