ICT Technical Support Engineer

The ICT department at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive, experienced IT professional to join the ICT Department as a Support Technician. As this is a customer facing role it is essential for the successful candidate to have excellent communication skills and have significant relevant experience of working within ICT Service Delivery teams.

Applicants need to demonstrate sound technical knowledge of a diverse set of applications and hardware in order to provide solutions for end users both over the phone and in person. It is expected that candidates will have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications along with exposure to server side such as Active Directory. Any previous skills or knowledge of Ivanti ITSM products, RES and coding experience is highly desirable.

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trusts ICT department manages and provides support for approximately 4400 client devices and over 5000 users across 2 hospitals in Birmingham.

  • Obtained 5 GCSE qualifications including Maths and English

  • Computer qualification, e.g. MCP/A+ qualification/ITIL V4.

Experience

  • Understanding of specialist IT systems
  • Experience in working in team environments
  • Previous IT support experience within a Microsoft Windows Infrastructure
  • Good level of general desktop IT knowledge
  • Experience in setting up PC’s and loading software within a corporate environment
  • Experience of using an ITSM call logging system within a corporate environment
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Office 365 etc
  • Good level of understanding of computer hardware and printers
  • Understanding/appreciation of Information Security Policies i.e. Computer Mis-Use Act, Data Protection Act and GDPR

  • Experience of supporting “Netapp” systems
  • Experience of supporting telecommunications systems (VOIP)
  • Experience of supporting Windows Server 2016/2019
  • Understanding of the NHS.
