Senior Clinical Support Worker

Forward Thinking Birmingham 18-25 years ADHD Team is offered across Birmingham for young adults referred into the pathway for continuing treatment and support with ADHD, as well as assessment of ADHD. The ADHD team is based at Finch Road Primary Care Centre, with team members operating from FTB citywide HUBS.
Our MDT aims to support robust quality assessments alongside supporting team members to manage risk and concerns. The post holder will be given opportunities to learn and develop skills for supporting symptoms of ADHD to ensure highest quality care is provided for our young people. The post holder will also have a role in supporting the wider MDT. The role includes balancing shifts to work both from home as well as on-site at our Hubs and clinics.

The post holder will be a required, to provide intensive support /advice and identify existing community resources to minimise/avoid escalation towards crisis by means of specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions.
The post holder will take a lead role in the development and provision of social/therapeutic activities for service users and provide specialist interventions for referred people within a therapeutic framework, both individually and in groups. Also providing advice and support for other professionals as required.
The post holder will provide specialist advice and support for young people and their families in times of crisis and will have an active role in support with the team’s duty system.
The post holder will monitor the physical health of young people and report and record any changes to a senior clinician. The post holder will also participate in the teams Quantitative Behavioural Test clinic (QB).

The role of a Senior Clinical Support Worker will include acting as a co-worker for young people aged between 18-25 years who require an assessment for ADHD or have a diagnosis of ADHD. The role will include implementing therapeutic interventions such as psycho education and various other evidence based non-pharmacological interventions. Additionally, the role entails assisting senior clinicians to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care packages which are recovery focused.
In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based support and care to individuals with ADHD. Under the supervision of senior clinical staff, you will engage with a diverse group of young people and adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD and co-occurring mental health conditions.

- NVQ level 3 in related subject or equivalent
- Experience of working in care settings with young people with mental health needs, ADHD
- Ability to communicate clearly within a multidisciplinary team, with young people, their families and carers
- Awareness of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Able to write clear and concise clinical notes and complete other documentation
- Knowledge of mental health presentations in people with ADHD
- Ability to use own judgement and work independently whilst seeking help, support and supervision and appropriate
- Full UK driving license
- Able to make and record mental state and physical observations

- Experience of contributing to the assessment of children and young people with mental health needs
- Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies (eg social care, education) across community settings
