This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding and innovative national service. We are looking for someone to join our dynamic team as a Mental Health Youth Worker within our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) covering schools in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to support the MHST to deliver evidence-based mental health interventions for children and young people in schools and help develop their whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing, including delivering workshops, trainings and assemblies. 

The post would suit Youth Workers with experience in working with children and young people’s and have an interest in mental health. 

A driving license and access to a car for work purposes on a daily basis is also an essential requirement of this post.

Main duties of the job

Principal duties for this role include:

·      Acting as a communication link between education/community partners and Forward Thinking Birmingham. 

·       Supporting and strengthening Forward Thinking Birmingham provision in relation to early identification and intervention for children and young people with mental health & family support needs.

·       Providing training in mental health and youth culture to pupils, school staff and parents in designated MHST schools as part of the Whole School Approach to Mental Health.

·     Contributing to referral meeting discussions with a consideration of what mental health needs may be identified and require further exploration

·     Working closely with Educational Mental Health Practitioners, Senior Mental Health Practitioners and Clinical team Managers to ensure assessment for identified CYP’s and to contribute to the delivery of treatment interventions

·     Direct work with vulnerable children and young adults to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing at Early Help level, including anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, self-esteem and low level self-harm.
