Band 6

Job overview

Come and join a dynamic service led and supported by specialist and highly experienced Occupational Therapists within our inpatient Child and Adolescent In patient services at Parkview Clinic under the BWC mental health directorate. We hold true to our trust values of being ambitious, brave, and compassionate and are very committed to being OTs for Equity; challenging individual as well as systemic barriers to mental wellness that impact our young people. Join us and bring a dynamic presentation of Occupational Therapy and provide great outcomes for our children and young people!

This role will allow the development of Occupational Therapy skills; independent working, managing an Occupation Focused caseload, supporting the wider MDT through generic tasks such as multi-Disciplinary assessments. You will be supported by an advanced Occupational Therapist for caseload supervision and line management. The Parkview team is located between Moseley and Kings Heath and is reflecting a full MDT, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Support Workers, Peer support workers, Family Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. You will have the opportunity to work with our children, young people and families within the clinic, schools, colleges; or wherever there is a need for meaningful intervention!

Main duties of the job

This is an amazing opportunity to join a growing Occupational Therapy service developing our specialist services in a new and dynamic environment. We will be supporting our team to develop Occupational Formulations, Occupation focused interventions, sensory pathways, and strategies. Members of our team have been supported to developing core OT skills as well as additional specialist modalities such as DBT, Systemic training, BUSS, ADOS.

As an Occupational Therapy team, we provide

·         Monthly in service CPD

·         Pathway lead workshops

·         Professional Development 1:1 session with Head of OT

·         Supportive peer groups

The role will include the holistic assessment and treatment of young people, and their families to support their mental health. This post will manage a defined Occupational Therapy caseload on a specific ward within the 36 Bedded Clinic. The successful candidate will engage young people with low motivation to participate in meaningful occupations individualized to their care and be confident in the assessment of promoting positive risk taking.

The Occupational Therapy team will provide education on specific subjects and will work to develop and champion the role of Occupational Therapy within Parkview.
