The Blood Sciences Department, Haematology at Birmingham Children's Hospital is looking to recruit a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist. Any appointment to Band 6 will require the post holder to have their Specialist IBMS Portfolio. We will consider applications from candidates who are HCPC registered only who have relevant Haematology laboratory experience. Post registration experience in a UK Haematology/ Blood transfusion department is essential. 

Our department operates 24 hours, 7 day service performing a wide range of paediatric investigations for children with leukaemia and bleeding disorders, in addition to supporting regional services in paediatric medicine and surgery. This includes a busy Emergency Department, large paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac and Liver surgery and a Bone Marrow Transplant centre. The work is interesting and varied and the department encourages and supports career development.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in Haematology and will be expected to maintain the required professional standards and up to date knowledge of Haematology and Transfusion Sciences and current working practices.  They will be required to rotate through the Diagnostic Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Specialist Haemostasis sections working as part of the team to contribute to the provision and further development of high quality diagnostic service.

Participation in the 24/7 out of hours service provision is required.
