An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy and friendly admin team based in the West Midlands Regional Genomics Laboratory.

 

The admin team is critical in supporting the Genetics Laboratory with day to day administrative support.  As well as contributing to the overall work of the team, the successful candidate will take on specific responsibility for procurement within the department.  This will involve complex stock ordering, liaising with a number of technical stakeholders, maintaining stock levels and managing stock when it arrives in the department.

This post is primarily based at Birmingham Research Park, close to Birmingham Women’s Hospital, however there is an expectation that candidates will work between the two sites.

 

If you are a confident user of Office software packages with well-developed organisational skills we would like to hear from you. The candidate will need to have strong verbal and written skills, the ability to prioritise and work under pressure and to be a good team player as well as be able to work autonomously.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English Language grade C or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent experience in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • NVQ level 3 or above qualification
  • Detailed knowledge of procurement processes and systems or equivalent experience in similar role

Knowledge

  • Experience of developing and maintaining close links with all departments to provide an efficient and coordinated approach to supplies management.
  • Able to accurately process data and create reports
  • Experience of supervising a team and working to people management policies
  • Able to create databases to collect and monitor information.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of non-routine administrative processes, with experience of laboratory-based policies and procedures
  • Experience of the management of departmental stock within agreed levels ensuring a stock rotational system is utilised.
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of working independently and using own initiative to manage own workload
  • NHS experience and understanding of healthcare
  • Maintaining good working relationships across a range of staff levels both internally and externally

  • Knowledge of work in front of VDU uses keyboard skills, use of information technology and undertake administrative role, files reports, quotes etc.
