Job overview

Veterans Op Courage Treatment Pathway require a motivated, friendly and hardworking individual to be part of a dynamic team serving veterans within the Midlands. We provide specialist care and support for those due to leave the armed forces, Reservists and those who’ve already left.

The post holder will undertake a wide range of reception and administrative duties. These will include the monitoring, recording, and booking of appointments and managing a busy telephone line, the receiving of all incoming mail and ensuring action is taken appropriately, processing clinical letters and other correspondence. 

You will provide an effective, efficient, and confidential administrative service to support the clinical team. There is a need to be able to work within a busy work environment with accuracy and to tight deadlines. You will work closely with a small admin team, yet need to have the ability to prioritise your workload and act on your own initiative is essential.

Applicants should have good communication & organisational skills, experience of using Microsoft Office with excellent typing speed and accuracy, it is a requirement to have Maths and English qualifications, so please ensure to add into your application form. Experience of using RIO would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake a range of administrative and clerical duties to support the work of Veterans Op Courage Service.
  • To act as first point of contact for patients and visitors to the Team including fielding calls and taking and disseminating messages.
  • To service outpatient clinics utilising both Trust patient information and in-house systems.
  • To undertake general administrative duties to assist the wider administrative and multidisciplinary teams in carrying out their duties.
  • To provide cover for admin colleagues when required to include working at Barberry.
  • To work flexible hours to meet the needs of the Service.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English or above and ability to demonstrate excellent use of the English language/grammar
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Pitman/RSA Level 2 typing qualification or equivalent
  • Proven ability to type accurately at 60 wpm.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an administrator or receptionist role
  • Experience in a customer focused healthcare environment
  • Relevant experience within a healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Op Courage service
  • Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures

Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team or alone, and to be able to prioritise your workload

  • Up to date working knowledge of all Microsoft packages
