We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motived substance use practitioner to join the FIRST Service.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new post within secure care based within FIRST. This additional substance use practitioner will join the substance use element of service provision. The role is focused on the delivery and development of substance interventions as part of individualised recovery plans.
You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of secure care, with a sound knowledge base of the complexities of working with co-existing mental illness and problematic substance use.
The post will require cross site working and into community settings across the region, working closely with a range of teams in the development and implementation of care pathways. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the delivery of training and education of others.

To work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists Substance Use Practitioners and wider team/s to achieve high quality, evidence-based, integrated, recovery orientated support. The interventions delivered are based on the Reaside Integrated Treatment Programme and are underpinned by C-BIT (Cognitive Behavioural Integrated Treatment)
To ensure the delivery of services that meet FIRST team objectives for optimal mental health, physical health and social well-being.
To contribute to evidence based, structured interventions to individuals with problematic drug and alcohol use. This includes 1:1 and group interventions.
To encourage positive therapeutic retention and engagement in support offered, with clear recovery goals which focus on sustainable recovery, integration and planned discharge from secure services and FIRST.
To participate in harm reduction interventions.
To provide evidence based relapse prevention interventions and onward referral to partners, other relevant partnership agencies, peer mentors and sign posting to mutual aid groups where appropriate/identified in recovery and support plans.
To support the delivery of NA groups. These happen on different sites on Tuesday evenings.

Experience

- Relevant post registration experience managing a caseload in a multi disciplinary team within a health environment
- Experience of working in a prison/forensic setting/criminal justice system
Skills

- Good knowledge of recovery based models within drug/alcohol use
- Excellent knowledge of drug/alcohol treatment systems that make up an integrated recovery model.
Qualifications

- An experienced substance use clinician with substantial experience of delivering interventions for substance use.

- Registered RMN/RGN or equivalent professional qualification
- Educated to degree level with equivalent relevant experience in specialist services.
