Band 6 Physiotherapist in Paediatrics - FES

Trosolwg o'r swydd

Provide physiotherapy input to the Regional Specialist FES Clinic, co-ordinating with other specialist services as appropriate e.g. Orthotics, Spasticity Clinic, MS Clinic and ITB Clinic. Assess Paediatric patients for FES treatment, plan, deliver and coordinate an individual treatment plan using sound clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice. Supply FES units, train patients and carers in their use, arrange and deliver follow-up reviews in line with Medical Devices Policy and clinical needs of patients. Support patients, carers, HCP with holistic management of neurological conditions for optimal rehabilitation potential.

  • • Grad Dip Phys / Diploma in Physiotherapy / Physiotherapy Degree
  • • Evidence of relevant CPD

  • • Active Member of clinical interest group.

Experience

  • • Varied comprehensive rotations at junior grade, undertaken with significant relevant post-registration experience in neurology.
  • • Experience in neurology.
  • • Paediatric experience

  • • Some experience of assessing complex disability including clients with brain injury, spinal cord injury and progressive neurological disorders.
  • • Experience of wheelchair assessment and postural management.

Skills/knowledge

  • • Proven ability to assess and treat patients with neurological conditions, using clinical reasoning skills.
  • • Ability to demonstrate developed manual and palpatory skills, physiotherapeutic handling and positioning
  • • Knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process.
  • • Basic knowledge of Orthotic interventions
  • • Understanding of community support agencies and other professions, and ability to work and liaise with them.
  • • Basic computer skills –Microsoft packages, basic skills in digital photography and use of associated computer software
  • • Evidence of good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills, and ability to work independently.
  • • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date clinical trends, practices and models used in the treatment of people with neurological conditions
  • • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes affecting the NHS especially those relevant to physiotherapy
  • • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Clinical Governance, standard setting, the audit process and evidence based practice (understanding the principles of clinical governance
  • • Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility in Health and Safety
  • • Ability to communicate effectively with patients/carers/colleagues and other agencies, which may include sensitive and/or contentious information. This may require explanation, instruction, persuasion, motivation, negotiation, reassurance and require expert verbal and non verbal skills. Use of simple and more complex communication technology may be used by patients and interpreters may be used on occasions. May need to convey sensitive and/or contentious information to clients and carers
  • • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team
  • • Ability to manually handle patients and/or equipment safely to attain positioning necessary to perform safe and effective clinical assessments and treatments
  • • Ability to use cognitive, behaviour and communication strategies to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and rehabilitation goals are met
  • • Ability to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
