Band 3 Health Care Assistant for the Children in Care Team

Job overview
The post holder will work as a member of the team delivering health care to children in care (looked after). The duties will include undertaking a range of clerical and clinical tasks to support Doctors and Nurses in Clinics. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for inputting and accessing computer data relevant to the service and other routine clerical duties
Main duties of the job
Access relevant hospital and community records ensuring they are available for the health assessment and received and returned to and from appropriate bases.
Organise appointments and clinics, liaising with Social Services or health colleagues where required in order to manage and ensure smooth running of clinics.
Communicate effectively with children and young people to explain health screening procedures and offer reassurance and encouragement to take up the service.
Undertake measurement of height and weight, blood pressure, hearing tests and other routine clinical procedures as required, following appropriate training.
Ensure equipment is regularly maintained and calibrated.
Record accurately the results of clinical measurements/tests in children/young people’s records in accordance with the record keeping guidelines laid down by the Trust.
Complete emotional and mental health questionnaire with young people and carers if appropriate

- Evidence of literacy / numeracy skills [GCSE or equivalent].
