Job overview
As a Business Analyst, the postholder will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of the Trust’s information business needs and requirements in order to determine new ways of working which will improve the organisations efficiency and effectiveness.
The post holder will provide business requirement documentation to support the customer’s information requirements including technical mapping to ensure that all processes are clearly supported and can be used by technical teams for solution development.
The post holder will ensure change design, development, business acceptance testing and benefits reviews are completed and the agreed solutions meet our customer expectations.
The post holder will develop and be the lead on implementation of the information team’s business analysis function working alongside the Business Intelligence and Information Services Manager and the information project team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as the information business partner, where they will interpret service information requirements for the development by the Trust’s ‘Information Data Solution’ and ‘Data Services’ team. The business analyst will be responsible for carrying out the requirements’ engineering work and the key objective is to ensure the requirements are documented and align with the information strategy and business objectives.
The post holder will work very closely with developers to ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood and specific Informatics development projects are agreed with the Senior Data Architect utilising products including but limited to SQL, SSRS Visual Studio, SSIS, .NET, SQL Server Data Tools and in-house web development tools.
Contribute to planning and formulation of agile delivery plans to enable the delivery of Trusts Information strategy and help with the facilitation of creating and amending long term plans and formulation of strategic initiatives which cross the whole organisation.

Qualifications / training
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree Level within IT or have equivalent experience working within an IT / Information environment
- Business Analysis Qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience in requirements engineering and business analysis techniques
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working within an information / IT business analysis role
- Significant experience in the use of business analysis techniques
- Significant experience working within IT/Information project teams
- Significant experience working within an NHS IT/Information environment
Skills/knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good knowledge of Data Warehouse principles methodologies.
- Good working knowledge of process engineering including process mapping and requirements documentation
- Understanding of key business functions within the NHS

- Excellent communication skills, ability to build strong working relationships with all levels and groups of staff on complex information related issues
