Spinal Clinical Specialist role within MSK team / part time (22.5 hrs), flexible / no ‘On call’ or weekend work / MSc level training supported / Free staff parking. Patient experience and Staff Health & wellbeing is high on our agenda; we support staff to work flexible longer/shorter days to help fit with their work/life balance, whilst offering a variety of appointment times for patients. The post is 22.5 hours/week and will cover East Berkshire sites (Bracknell, Windsor, Maidenhead, Slough).

You will work within our team of clinical specialists to oversee the assurance of the clinical governance of staff; ensuring that current guidelines and pathways are embedded; coordinating structured mentoring, supervision, and training; auditing performance; acting as the ‘go to’ for complex spinal presentations.
As a service, we receive a variety of referrals from GP surgeries and Orthopaedic clinics. We are committed to advancing you clinically and will support with training (external courses, MSc modules where appropriate) and establishing local APP/ consultant relationships. We have excellent clinical and administrative teams ranging from Bands 2 – 7 and you will also have access to our Clinical Specialists and FCP’s for mentoring and In-Service Training. We also run an MSK Triage service linked in with secondary care Orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job

Co-ordinate supervision and mentoring to ensure staff are working safely within MSK Physiotherapy, alongside the other clinical specialists

Be the ‘go-to’ person for complex spinal presentations. This may involve answering questions from staff or completing joint assessments with staff.

Link in with other local spinal service stakeholders, ensuring a smooth patient journey

Embedding current guidelines and recommendations into department practice

Audit staff supervision and patient outcomes

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Qualified Physiotherapist with HCPC registration

Minimum of 3 years previous NHS MSK physiotherapy experience at band 6 level

Sound clinical reasoning and MSK knowledge with a passion for spinal presentations

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered
- Member of the CSP
Desirable criteria
- Member of Clinical Special interest group
Continuous Professional Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of comprehensive post graduate training including attendance at recent post graduate/validated courses relevant to the musculo-skeletal field
Desirable criteria
- Physiotherapy related MSc
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 4 years physiotherapy experience post qualification
- Comprehensive range of supervisory experience
- Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience at Band 7 Physiotherapist level
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- High level of people management skills
- High level of clinical knowledge, experience and skill in musculoskeletal field
- Previous experience with audit
- Robust Self-directed learning
- Efficient, effective and diplomatic communication skills both written and verbal
- Good computer literacy
