Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health & Maternity

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to come and join our team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.  We are a GOOD rated hospital following CQC inspection and are looking to employ a skilled, forward thinking, dynamic individual as a pelvic health and maternity clinical specialist Physiotherapist.

The post is suitable for an experienced physiotherapist with past leadership and service improvement experience. The post will be operating across the Outpatient Physiotherapy department, in patient maternity wards and working with individuals with a variety of complex needs.

Regular appraisal, supervision and support will be given and there is a requirement to actively participate in CPD and audit. You will help with the implementation of new initiatives to continue to develop the service in line with best practice and clinical guidelines whilst working closely alongside senior colleagues.

There is the potential for this role to be offered as a development opportunity, however this will be at the discretion of the interview panel and appointing team.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an autonomous advanced physiotherapist developing and delivering specialised programmes of care for patients with highly complex presentations. Will have acquired specialist knowledge of male and female lower urinary tract/bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain and obstetric – related musculoskeletal conditions.
  • To undertake a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist role within the Musculoskeletal department and support the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust working alongside a consultant and/or Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner.
  • Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical data to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses informing complex decision making ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient focused care.
  • To develop advanced practitioner skills under the guidance of a consultant and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner.
  • To deputise for the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner on agreed clinical and service development groups and boards.
  • To provide advanced training, advice and clinical education to service providers, service users and service commissioners.
  • To support the development of a learning-based culture.  This will include the provision of training, supervision and appraisal for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, support staff and students.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Master's level professional education supplemented by specialist training/development or equivalent experience in physio for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
  • Ability to effectively promote MSK services & the role of Physiotherapists to internal and external colleagues & agencies
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant training or qualification in leadership
  • Project management skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience in Physiotherapy for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in male & female patients
  • Experience of working in an inter-disciplinary manner
  • Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
  • Experience of mentoring and training clinical staff and students
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of service development/change
  • Experience of interactions with stakeholders to ensure effective working
