Job overview
This is a key developmental role supporting the Matron for Critical Care & Respiratory Medicine in Urgent Care Group. The purpose of this post is to oversee, lead & take responsibility for the day to day management of the ICU for nursing performance. The role will support the achievement of all local, organisational and national standards and compliance (CQC,NICE,GPICS, Clinical Governance and risk).
The post holder will provide visible & effective leadership to staff within the Intensive care unit.
Provision of this visibility will provide accessible and authoritative presence to whom staff, patients
and families can turn to for advice, support and assistance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Patient Experience
Work to improve the quality of patient experience with the Nurse Consultant. Monitor performance data on patient experience and hold nursing staff accountable for delivering a continuously improving, best possible patient experience.
Lead work to improve professional practice, patient services and driving up standards of care throughout the Care Group.
Support the Matron in developing initiatives which encourage patient partnership. Ensure that the views of patient representatives’ are incorporated into the development of services.
Lead investigations and respond to complaints, in line with the Complaints Policy.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professionally qualified and clinically credible with a post registration qualification In Critical care/ Intensive Care Nursing Registered Nurse
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate management/ further study qualification.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent management experience at band 7/ Practiced at Band 7 for 1.5 years( Minimum).
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing finance, workforce, quality within a clinical environment.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
