Job Purpose
Under the direction of the ICU Management Team, the post holder will work with the Critical Care IT manager to support the provision of high quality patient care by efficiently and proactively managing day to day operation of the clinical information system and bedside device integration. In addition, the post holder will have responsibility for on-going development of ICCA in order to facilitate best practice in the recording of all data captured within clinical pathways. SQL reporting and data analysis will be expected in order to help inform clinical decision making, audit and unit performance.

- The post holder is responsible for maintenance and development in accordance with the Trust’s IM and T strategy and annual work plan, and will also be key to ensuring that this reflects the needs of the supported services, specifically ICU.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Analytical Tasks
- Undertake systematic troubleshooting in order to investigate issues where there may be conflicting or inconsistent information, in both live and development systems.
- Will be expected to take and interpret highly complex clinical information and communicate this clearly and concisely to clinicians, managers and other groups of staff across the organisation.
- Development of functional system specifications
- Will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of SQL
- Ability to synthesise clinical, confidential and technical information in a complex and rapidly changing situation.
- In some circumstances will be expected to write local policy around change in practice including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Able to act autonomously taking responsibility for personal decision making and review outcomes in order to refine and develop clinical practice.
- Applies risk benefit principles.

- • First degree or equivalent health care professional qualification
Desirable criteria
- • Masters level 'healthcare-related' degree or equivalent experience
Experience

- • Previous experience with an IT system

- • Previous experience with database software
