Main duties of the job

Responsible for the Occupational Therapies services delivered by the Trust, supported by the Specialist Medicine Quadrumvirate (Clinical Director, Directorate Manager, Head of Therapies and Matron).

Responsible for the support and supervision of staff providing Occupational Therapy services.

Provide input to the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager, Head of Therapies and Matron relating to strategic development and planning of Therapies services.

Carry out patient assessments and implement care accordingly.

Plan and implement patient-centred individual and/or group interventions, evaluating treatment in order to measure progress and ensure clinical effectiveness.

To support the assessment of patient groups and establish appropriate treatment programmes.  Ensure all treatment programmes with Therapies adhere to the highest clinical standards.

Support and contribute to the planning of Therapies services identifying future resourcing requirements.

Support Therapies teams in effectively implementing service development plans and monitoring the impact of these plans.

  • Graduate qualification or equivalent with a postgraduate qualification or significant experience that equates to postgraduate level qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Registered Therapist.
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience

  • Significant post qualification experience gained in a range of areas within the profession.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in field and application of current best practice.
  • Experience of supervising staff and students.
  • Experience of training and developing other qualified staff.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering service delivery improvements.
  • Demonstrate specialist professional knowledge in field.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of successfully leading change programmes.
  • Experience of working within a devolved management structure.
