Job Summary/ Purpose |
The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) was formed in 2017 with the aim to improve patient safety across the healthcare sector by carrying out expert investigations to determine the causes of accidents and serious incidents, and to make safety recommendations intended to prevent recurrence and to improve safety across the healthcare system. Each year HSIB publishes approximately 30 new reports, following investigations into an incident or issue, and issue safety recommendations to a wide range of bodies and organisations. The Health and Care Act 2022 established HSSIB as the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB), a fully independent arm’s-length body from October 2023. The Safety Insights Engagement Lead will work in the Investigation and Insights team, reporting to the Head of Patient Safety Insights. The postholder will effectively operate the ‘front door’ to our organisation, responsible for the external facing platforms for receiving safety concerns from patients, families, members of the public and healthcare staff. It is essential that the postholder is an advocate for inclusive and meaningful engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. As a Safety Insights Engagement Lead, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service and supporting Analysts and Investigators, to promote and publicise improvements in the safety of care provision. |
