A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and innovative Complex Medicine team within the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as a Senior Band 6 Physiotherapist. The role will be a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). You will have the chance to work across our four major wards which are comprised of Cardiology, Haematology, General medicine and Elderly care.
As part of the role you will be expected to participate in the weekend & late shift rota for the team. The weekends would be approximately 1 in every 8 weeks and late shifts approximately 2 shifts every 4 weeks. In addition to this, you will also be an active member of the on-call respiratory rota.
Physiotherapy is playing an instrumental role in the exciting developments in the Trust and our team is growing. Our patients rate us highly on quality of care and having friendly, approachable staff. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the acute inpatient physiotherapy service. This includes patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
Main duties of the job
To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to determine a diagnosis and formulate and deliver an appropriate, effective individualised treatment programme
To plan, supervise, educate and assess therapy students on placement within the Complex Medicine team. Work closely with the university and comply with all standards required for the degree level qualification.
To participate in the development and delivery of education and training for other health professionals caring for patients with elderly care conditions.
To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for patients with physiotherapy problems on the complex care wards, acute medical wards and outlying patients, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available if required.
To undertake generic work in Complex Medicine within the field of occupational therapy to a competent standard supported by clinical supervision from non-physiotherapy senior staff.
Supported by the Band 7 Complex Medicine physiotherapy lead, to design and undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team’s clinical practice and improve service delivery.
To deputise for the Band 7 Complex Medicine team leader as required.

Qualifications and Training

- HCPC registration

- CSP membership or equivalent
- CPD relevant to the post
Experience

- Broad based experience including relevant fields
