Consultant Radiologist with Interest in Colorectal Imaging
NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant
Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Radiologist with Interest in Colorectal Imaging to join our growing team at Bedford Hospital, which merged with Luton & Dunstable Hospital in April 2020, forming Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is to support the growing workload and service development. The role is based at Bedford Hospital, with potentially one day a week at Luton.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include sessions of Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Plain films. The appointee will be involved in MDTs as applicable and will be encouraged to expand and establish new services. In addition they will play a supervisory/advisory role to Radiographers, Nurses and other non-clinical staff in Radiology Department as necessary.
There will be an on-call commitment currently 1 in 11, and will cover only the Bedford site, with a 4-day weekday and 3-day weekend cover. On-call is currently outsourced to a teleradiology service between 8pm-9am weekdays and 3pm-9am weekends.
With the expansion in national training numbers, we aim to start Radiology registrar rotations at Bedford next year, to support the already well-established posts at Luton, so an interest in teaching will be very welcome. We also run a regular undergraduate teaching programme for students from the Cambridge rotation which the appointees will be encouraged to support.
Working for our organisation
Our Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Travel between hospital sites may be required.
We have state-of-the art facilities placing us at the heart of cutting edge health care. The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.
Please note that vacancies may close prior to the advertised closing date when sufficient number of applications have been received. Please ensure that you make your application as soon as possible.
