Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

 

Job overview

To be part of a highly motivated team, having  NHS post registration experience, working independently in both community and acute settings, providing a high standard of quality clinical care.

To take a lead role in the assessment and treatment of service users referred to the podiatry department who may have complex and / or chronic presentation. 

 

Main duties of the job

  1. You will work as an autonomous practitioner, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work including management of all service users in your care. 
  1. To make appropriate judgements on and be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care of your patient caseload. These will predominately be service users with complex medical and clinical needs including:
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic neuropathy
  • Chronic disease
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Vascular insufficiency
  • Wound management/tissue viability
  • Terminally ill service users
  1. Care will be provided in a range of primary and secondary care settings, the majority of which will be in isolation, without the support of podiatry colleagues, working as a single handed practitioner. Supervision will be largely self driven through attendance at departmental briefings and supervision meetings and through seeking the advice of peers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of commitment to personal development.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of work towards updating skills and abilities in Specialist Interest in Podiatry.
  • Ability to speak Welsh.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work successfully within both podiatry and multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of current NHS policies, organisational structures and service pressures.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in Podiatry
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registered Podiatrist.
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate training or equivalent level
