Job overview
The Healthcare Contracting Team manages a range of income and expenditure contracts with external providers and commissioners of Healthcare Services.
If you have a background in Income contracting, are well organised and want to make a difference for patients, then we can offer you the opportunity to enhance your existing skills by working as part of our dynamic team.
To succeed, you will need to be enthusiastic, proactive, have an attention to detail and have a desire to improve the Health of our local population.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join our small but well established Contracts Finance team to manage all financial aspects of the Health Boards income, including Private Patients, Overseas Visitors, Looked After Children, Education income and all other miscellaneous recharges.
We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual, with strong communication skills, with experience of working with providers of externally commissioned services, preferably within the NHS.
The ability to work in a fast pace and ever changing environment is essential, along with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work and develop effective relationships with colleagues across a range of professional boundaries, including clinicians and partner organisations is essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Fully qualified accountant member of the CCAB professional institute,
- Proven equivalent experience, demonstrating extensive knowledge and understanding of the NHS Income and contract operating regimes.
Desirable criteria
- Excellent standard of general education
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working in a senior Finance position in a large organisation.
- Extensive experience of data manipulation, investigation and analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of computer software
- Extensive experience of staff management and leadership
- Experience of managing projects and tasks over a long delivery or implementation period.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of implementing and working NHS Income controls Overseas Patients and Private Patients practices and procedures
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to analyse and communicate highly complex information effectively at all levels within the organisation and also to external bodies.
- Ability to display high levels of concentration and to work to a high degree of accuracy
- Evidence of team building and developing positive working relationships

Knowledge

- Extensive and detailed knowledge and understanding of NHS Finance
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the NHS Income and contract operating regimes.
- Understanding of the financial issues within a large multi-site and service Health Board
Desirable criteria
- Extensive knowledge of NHS Private Patients and Overseas Patients rules and guidelines, and VAT / Accounting treatments

- Ability to travel across sites within the Health Board and wider geographic area
- Requirement to attend meetings outside of normal working hours, across the Health Board geography and outside of North Wales.
