Elective Care Programme Manager

The Programme Manager will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the South West of England to deliver a successful Elective Care programme. In addition, they will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the regional work required to deliver the Elective Care transformation programmes. The Elective Team forms part of the wider regional Performance and Delivery Directorate. 

The Elective Care programme works collaboratively across directorates and programmes to deliver NHS commitments and embed transformational change that will secure longer term Elective delivery.

With delivery and improvement at the heart of elective recovery, this role provides an exciting opportunity to share clinical innovation, embed best practice and work with a range of stakeholders to provide the best possible access and care for our patients.

The Programme Manager will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting and coordinating the regional work required to deliver the Elective Care transformation programmes, so should have excellent organisational skills.

The post holder will support performance oversight and reporting and ensure there is alignment with other, relevant regional programmes.  This may include interpreting and presenting data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making.

This is a role with a broad and challenging remit and the post holder should be comfortable working across multiple organisations, using their own initiative when required and

drive to progress difficult work across a large regional footprint, therefore excellent communication is required. This will also mean that the post holder will be expected to travel across the region.

The post holder will support current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted; therefore, it is essential that the successful candidate has some experience of improvement methodology.

  • This role requires travel to and around the South West on a regular basis.
  • As a Programme Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the South West of England to deliver an Elective Care programme. In addition, they will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the regional work required to deliver the Elective Care transformation programmes.
  • The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the directorate. Building on existing work the post holder will need to maintain a focus upon achieving the programme deliverables as set out in the Long Term Plan.
  • The post holder will support performance oversight and reporting and will provide focused support to this programme and ensure there is alignment with other, relevant regional programmes.
  • This is a role with a broad and challenging remit and the post holder should be comfortable working across multiple organisations, using their own initiative when required and drive to progress difficult work across a large regional footprint.
  • The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.
  • The post holder will support current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.
