Project Manager (HLRO) Team

NHS AfC: Band 8a

Job overview

We are recruiting for a Project Manager to join the Higher Level Responsible Officer (HLRO) team, in the south east region Medical Directorate.

We work within a statutory framework implementing a range of measures designed to improve the safety and quality of care for patients. Approximately 24,000 doctors work in more than 134 healthcare organisations across all sectors, in the south east region. We support these organisations to make sure the environment in which their doctors work, is focused on improving and maintaining the safety and quality of patient care.

Main duties of the job

As Project Manager you will line manage two Project Support Officers. You will manage several workstreams including delivering regional responsible officer networks and quality review visits. You will have practical knowledge and understanding of medical professional regulation and employer lead systems of clinical governance. You will be able to demonstrate excellent relational skills with experience of developing and maintaining working relationships with senior medical leaders across all healthcare sectors.

The role is office based in one of the south east region’s offices (Reading, Southampton, Horley) with hybrid working, and the postholder will be expected to travel throughout the south east region, including travel to London.

Working for our organisation

In April 2023, NHS England, NHS Digital, and Health Education England merged to create a new, single organisation to lead the NHS in England. This new NHS England is designed to create a simpler, smaller, high performing, organisation that leads the NHS more effectively and is a better place to work. Speaking with one voice to the service.

The new NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
  • Delivering value for money.
