The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.
Job overview
To provide an effective and efficient outpatient appointment service. The post holder acts as the first point of contact for telephone communication for the Specialist Nurses, thereby supporting the delivery of quality care to patients within the BCLUHB. The post holder will administer clinics for the OPD and Minor Injuries Unit and carry out general clerical duties to facilitate the daily operation of the office.
The Appointment Clerk will work closely with the Specialist Nurses; the post holder is required to work accurately and independently, within guidelines after training in the patient focused booking of appointments. Use their own initiative and judgement, rather than supervised, deciding when necessary to consult their manager.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE’S C and above in English and Maths or equivalent experience.
- NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent experience.
- IT qualification or equivalent level of experience using Microsoft packages
- RSA/OCR Level 2 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- ECDL
- AMSPAR-City & Guilds Level 3
Skills

- Able to contribute constructively to a team working environment
- Able to record information accurately.
- Able to communicate information clearly and sensitively in person and over the telephone.
