Job overview

Applications are invited for this vacancy in the Children and Young People's Services Division based in Llandudno Hospital, Llandudno.  

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic person to join the Central Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Team as an Administration Assistant.  The successful candidate will be expected to provide administration support to a team of clinical and operational staff, respond to working under pressure within a busy a working environment.  

It is essential that the postholder will have a flexible approach to work to support team members and to meet service demands.  Whilst previous hospital experience is not essential, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide excellent customer service, and will have IT skills.  The ability to communicate effectively and handling sensitive situations is essential, as is the ability to work to tight deadlines ensuring effective service delivery.  A working knowledge of WPAS is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. 

Full time and part time/Job share applicants will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide comprehensive reception, clerical and typing support for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), demonstrating a courteous, professional and sensitive manner at all times. 

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, good communication skills, be able to work on their own initiative and be efficient, organised and able to work flexibly. 

A good telephone manner and communication skills are essential. A knowledge of the hospital’s Patient Administration System, is desirable, although training will be given. The ability to speak Welsh would be beneficial but is not essential. The post-holder will hold RSA Level 2 or equivalent. The post holder will be required to demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner at all times. By the nature of the duties, the administration assistant post requires to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients, relatives and visitors with courtesy and discretion at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
