Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Medical Directorate Team. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organisational and planning skills, as well as an extensive knowledge of current HR practices, employment law and medical staffing to support the medical workforce.

As part of the Medical Directorate Team, the People Partner will work closely with managers within the localities to provide partner support ensuring the provision of expert HR management advice, including coaching managers, offering guidance on HR policy, employee relations and to support organisational change and workforce productivity initiatives.

The role will also provide a high-quality service to support all aspects of medical workforce governance under the responsibility of the Medical Directorate. This includes (but is not limited to) Appraisal and Revalidation, medical job planning, case investigations as part of MHPS (Maintaining High Professional Standards) and supporting the delivery of the required Responsible Officer Regulations.

The post holder will be responsible for providing expertise in the areas above and to work in partnership with all stakeholders to drive forwards the service transformation required.

Main duties of the job

The People Partner will work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the organisation is well-led, high-performing and achieves its strategic and operational objectives.

You will also support and coach managers to be confident, enabled and empowered leaders who engage and inspire their team.

Be the first point of contact for medical workforce issues, including appraisal and revalidation, taking action and routing to the CMO, AMD, and RO, other colleagues and teams as appropriate.

Lead on the implementation and maintenance of the Appraisal and Revalidation systems and processes, for all medical staff in line with statutory regulations.

To work collaboratively and provide expertise and specialist advice and support on complex and sensitive HR issues and specialist HR related matters and make appropriate decisions with regards to redeployment, discipline, performance management, harassment, recruitment, sickness, terms and conditions, organisational change and other aspects of employee relations.

Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Associate Medical Director, and Responsible Officer to ensure Sirona and the medical workforce meet their obligations in respect of medical workforce job planning, including Doctors annual and study leave policies. Support on the implementation and maintenance of the Job Planning systems and processes for all medical staff in line with statutory regulations

Essential criteria
  • Degree in HR Management or able to demonstrate or an equivalent level of generalist HR knowledge / experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Chartered CIPD Membership status

Employee Relations Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a generalist senior HR role in a fast paced medium sized / large multi-site organisation
  • Solid knowledge of current employment legislation and case law
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and explain a variety of routine and more complex HR matters, communicating and influencing a wide variety of audiences
  • Evidence of ability to resolve varied problems using sound logic and taking into consideration relevant implications and able to demonstrate evidence of good decision making
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities with a highly varied and unpredictable workload, through excellent planning and organisation
  • Excellent IT literacy including knowledge and experience of using HR systems
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Degree in HR Management or able to demonstrate or an equivalent level of generalist HR knowledge / experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of Health and/or Social Care services
  • Previous experience of using ESR
  • Chartered CIPD Membership status
