Job overview

We are looking for a Senior Clinic Assistant to join our team! You will support the delivery of a high quality and efficient outpatients service to the 0-19 years population across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) within community clinic settings. 

You will help to facilitate the smooth running of clinics ensuring notes, relevant documentation and equipment are available to support both health professionals providing clinics and children, young people and families attending. 

This role combines a range of clinical and administrative tasks and works takes place across a variety of settings in Paediatric Outpatient Clinics. 

You will be required to travel in and around BNSSG to meet the requirements of the post .

Main duties of the job

To prepare children to see the doctor by weighing, taking blood pressure and measuring them, and support the doctor by carrying out other appropriate tasks for which training will be provided. 

To arrange and hold clinics for children who need regular reviews of height, weight and blood pressure.  

To support the On-call clinical team with any Child Protection medicals.   

To ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children and young people with a range of needs and abilities, and their families. 

To understand a range of communication styles that can support the needs and preferences of the children, young people and their families.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent skills or experience
  • Level 3 Safeguarding training or willingness to complete

Experience & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of working as part of a team, with ability to work both autonomously and under direction as an effective member of the multi professional team
  • Awareness of child protection policies and procedures
  • Ability to efficiently use IT packages including: Microsoft word, excel, outlook and EMIS
  • Ability to communicate and relate effectively with children, young people, adults and colleagues using a variety of communication systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a health clinic environment.
