The Lifetime Service is a Community Nursing and Psychology Service for Children and young people life limiting, life threatening conditions and those who meet Children’s Continuing Care criteria
The service is based in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire and currently provides a service across four Integrated care board (ICB) areas, supporting children aged 0-19 and their families in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, B&NES (Children’s Continuing Care Team only).In addition, the service has a Continuing Care Team (CCT), which supports children at home with complex health needs and children who are technology dependent.
The role is based within Kingswood Hub, South Gloucestershire. The post holder needs the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service to cover a 7 day period covering 365 days per year if and when the Service requires.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to undertake clinical shifts usually working alongside the Lifetime support workers in the child’s home or school setting to observe their clinical competencies and undertake annual clinical assessments of the Lifetime Support Workers nursing care in order to support the children and their families who meet Continuing Care Criteria (Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and B&NES). This role includes clinical support to the rota co-ordination team.
This role will take on the line management of a number of Lifetime Support Workers which includes training, management and assessment of the large team of Lifetime Support Workers having regular one to one meetings and Performance development reviews and absence management to support the team leaders.
The role will require extensive travel across the ICB areas to visit service users within their own homes and in other settings, in addition to meeting and liaising with other teams and services.

Essential criteria
- Experienced Registered Childrens Nurse
- Full Driving UK licence
Desirable criteria
- BSc (Hons) Community Children’s Nurse/relevant community experience i.e. Specialist Practitioner CCN or SCPHN

- Experience of delivering teaching
- Experience of supervising/assessing students
